Mérida '06
This year, once again, God was faithful in many ways. The prayers of our friends and loved ones back home were felt and appreciated, and the church and people in Mérida were blessed with many gifts resulting from your financial support (a BIG special "thank you" goes to our Hispanic Bible Study Class women who slaved in a hot kitchen for a week making hundreds of dozens of tamales - and then donating the profit from their sale as a love offering to the people of Mérida).
In his seven years of taking this trip, Dennis has found that no two mission trips are the same. The personality dynamics between the team members that God puts in place for each trip guarantees this. But that fact aside, each trip also differs in the ministries, outreaches, and activities that take place during the week.
As Calvary Chapel Mérida has grown over the years, so have the relationships between us and Pastor Sam's family and other good friends. Each trip is more special than the last in its own way.We are watching as children grow from year to year and as new Christians grow in their faith between visits. We are blessed to be a small part of their world.
So, with that in mind, following is our journal kept during the 2006 Mission Trip to Mérida, Yucatán, México. We have enjoyed recounting in our minds everything the Lord did this year, and pray that you will enjoy reading about it. Perhaps God will speak to your heart...He may have a specific way that He wants you to take part next year!
