Mérida '05

Windows media video clip (5.5mb) · t's Merida '05 Journal

In June, seven members of Harvest Church (Dennis, Fran, Silvia, Adelita, Ingrid, Teri, and Michele) represented Harvest Church in Mérida, Mexico. This was Harvest Church's fifth trip to assist Pastor Sam Medina and the members of Calvary Chapel Mérida in spreading the Good News about Jesus.

Of the seven, Dennis has been on all five trips and Fran was on her third visit.

Mérida is located on the northwest section of the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico. By air, it is about 1200 miles, less than it is to California from DFW, but about 2,000 miles by car. Mérida itself is a very modern city with a population of around 1.3 million.

Calvary Chapel Mérida also has mission churches in Hocaba (26 miles ESE of Mérida, 1990 pop. 3,648) and Tabi (about an hour drive ESE of Mérida, est. pop. 800?) Many changes have taken place in the four years since we have been working with the people of Calvary Chapel. One thing that has not changed is their love for the people of the Yucatán and their love for us.

We are thankful that God allowed us to be a part of His work in this section of the world. Secondly, we are thankful for all of the prayers and gifts you provided that helped pave the way for this trip. While many of you were not physically a part of this trip, you were with us in spirit and we felt your prayers of intercession.

Following are some photos, and a short video clip from events during the trip or, you can read t's journal for a more detailed account of each day's events.
